Johan
Samsing meets prof. Thibault Damour, for a Science Talk in Niels Bohr Office
about his work on gravity and binary black holes:

Thibault Damour is a French physicist, best known for
his groundbreaking work on gravitational waves from compact binary
systems, and his invention with Alessandra Buonanno, of the "effective
one-body" approach to represent the orbital trajectories of binary black
holes.

T. Damour was a permanent professor in theoretical physics at the
Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques from 1989 to 2022, where he is now
professor emeritus. T. Damour has received numerous prizes including the Balzan
Prize for Gravitation, as well as the Galileo Galilei Medal and the Dirac Medal
of the ICTP.

In this video series, Johan Samsing (NBIA)
meets 7 outstanding scientists, each of which have made profound contributions
to our understanding of the Universe within the areas of black holes,
gravitational waves, early universe dynamics, and quantum gravity.

The recordings took place at the Niels Bohr
Office during the conference "Current Themes in High Energy Physics,
Gravity and Cosmology" held by the Niels Bohr International Academy from
Aug. 21st to 25th, 2023.
